Love unveils new Nirvana song - Former Hole star makes suprise
London DJ debut Courtney Love made her London DJing debut last week, and gave an
exclusive airing to the unreleased Nirvana track, 'You Know You're Right'. Love
arrived at the central London Metro Club - the venue for former Creation Records
and Poptones impresario Alan McGee's new night, Death Disco-well past midnight last
Thursday (March 21) and took to the decks for over an hour. Picking through her
pal McGee's record bag, the former Hole frontwoman played tracks by The Strokes,
the Stooges and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. And she couldn't resist playing The
Hives, the band she recently said were better than her late husband Kurt Cobain's
Nirvana. Love was accompanied on the evening by Anita Pallenberg, former girlfriend
of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards and original rock chick. She dedicated
Primal Scream's 'Swastika Eyes' to Pallenberg. There was tight security around Love
while she was at work, with security guards positioned by the DJ booth preventing
eager clubbers from getting too close. When not playing tunes, Love took to the
dancefloor. Speaking to NME about the event, McGee said: "Courtney Love is a true
iconoclast and star. She truly rocked the club. The best bit for me was when she
stuck on (Adam & The Ants') 'Antmusic' and ran into the sweaty throng. She's a true
rock'n'roll star"
